Who can cook on Cheffr?
Anyone who loves to cook: home cooks with no formal experience (Home Cook plan, $14.99/month or $149/year) and trained or professional cooks (Pro plan, $29.99/month or $299/year). Every cook needs a real profile photo and a police check.
What does a Pro cook need?
A culinary diploma or certificate, a signed professional reference letter, and at least one reference with a phone number we can call. We review everything before adding the PRO badge.
Do customers need a photo?
No. Customers only need their name, email and city to create a profile.
How much does a booking cost?
Customers pay the cook's hourly rate plus an 8% service fee. Cheffr keeps a 10% commission from the cook's earnings. For 2 hours at $45/hour, the customer pays $97.20 and the cook receives $81.00.
Do customers pay a subscription?
No. Customers sign up free and only pay when they book a cook. Only cooks have a monthly or yearly plan.
How does the referral program work?
Every cook gets a personal referral link on their account page. When a new cook signs up with your link and pays their first plan, they get 10% off that first payment and you get 10% off your next payment.
What are the cook tiers?
Cooks move up from Starter to Rising Star (4.5★, 10+ reviews) to Top Cook (4.8★, 25+ reviews) based on client reviews. Top Cooks get 15% off their next yearly subscription.
Who can use Cheffr?
Anyone who is 18 years of age or older. You must confirm your age when you create an account, as a customer or as a cook.
Is Cheffr responsible for what happens during a service?
No. Cheffr is a platform that connects customers with independent cooks. Cooks are not Cheffr employees, and Cheffr is not responsible for food allergies or reactions, injuries or illnesses, any damage or loss in your kitchen or home, theft, or anything else that happens during a service. What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for free up to 24 hours before your booking and get a full refund. Cancellations less than 24 hours before, or no-shows, are not refunded. If a cook cancels, you get a full refund. See our cancellation and refund policy.
Is there a code of conduct?
Yes. Both customers and cooks are expected to maintain a respectful and safe environment. Any harassment, discrimination or inappropriate behaviour may lead to removal from the platform. Read our code of conduct.
How do payments work?
Customers pay by card in Cheffr. The card is charged 24 hours before the booking, when free cancellation ends. After the service, Cheffr sends the cook their price minus the 10% commission, usually within 1 to 2 business days. No invoices needed.
What if someone doesn't show up?
If the customer cancels less than 24 hours before, or isn't available when the cook arrives, the cook is still paid. If the cook cancels or doesn't show up, the customer gets a full refund and the cook gets a strike. 3 strikes can lead to removal. Cooks check in with "I've arrived" in the app, which helps settle disputes.
Can cooks and customers book outside Cheffr?
No. If you met through Cheffr, bookings between you must go through Cheffr for 12 months. Cooks who take bookings off the platform owe Cheffr the fees it would have earned and may be removed.
Who sets the prices and the schedule?
The cooks do. Cheffr does not control cooks: each cook chooses their own hourly price, availability, menus and specialties, and decides which bookings to accept.
Is there a free trial for cooks?
Yes. Every approved cook across Canada gets their first month free on the monthly plan. A card is needed to start, and you can cancel anytime before the free month ends without being charged.
Where does the cooking happen?
In the customer's kitchen. The customer pays for groceries, or the cook shops and adds the receipt to the booking.
